Cloudy to start across Scotland with periods of heavy rain, Aryshire heavy and persistent, Argyll across the Highlands to the Borders throughout the morning with intense sunshine and showers, temperatures generally 6-8C.

Cloudy starting across Wales into Lancashire and then Yorkshire with intermittent rain in the afternoon, 8-10C. Eastern England to the Midlands and the rest of England are mainly dry although mornings are generally cloudy, with cloud clearing over England and the Midlands in the afternoon from 12 to 14C Cheshire to Somerset, Midlands to Yorkshire to Kent.

Area Today Tonight

North East England

A localized period of heavy rain, especially over the western hills, moved slowly and continued throughout the day. Drier and brighter, with occasional sunny spells developing to the east of higher ground during the day. A windy and mild day. Maximum temperature 12°C. Local bands of heavy rain, especially over the western hills, will gradually move back north overnight. Dry with some clear and cooler spells across Northumberland. Cooler and gentler elsewhere. Minimum temperature 3°C.

North West England

Another wet day across the region with spells of rain continuing, which could become heavy at times, especially in the north. Some drier periods are possible in the south, however clouds remain. Gentle and fresh. Maximum temperature 13°C. Cloudy overnight, with persistent and at times heavy rain, mainly in the north of the region. There are still light winds, especially on the coast and in the hills, moderate. Minimum temperature 8°C.

Yorkshire & Humber Weather

A localized band of heavy rain, particularly over the Yorkshire Dales, will move slowly throughout the day. Drier with some bright or occasional spells developing east of higher ground in the afternoon. A windy and mild day. Maximum temperature 13°C. Locally heavy rain bands, especially over the western hills, will gradually move back north and affect most areas overnight. Cool and always gentle. Minimum temperature 10°C.

East Midlands Weather

Cloudy throughout the day, however eastern areas may see occasional sunshine or mornings. Most areas remain largely dry, although further spells of rain are likely over the Derbyshire hills.
