A windy day with fresh to strong South Westerly winds for all, with possible gusts in the Western Isles. Cloudy to start across Scotland with periods of heavy rain, Aryshire heavy and persistent, Argyll across the Highlands to the Borders throughout the morning with intense sunshine and showers, temperatures generally 6-8C.

Cloudy starting across Wales into Lancashire and then Yorkshire, with scattered showers in the afternoon, 8-10C. Eastern England to the Midlands and the whole of the rest of England are mainly dry although mornings are often cloudy, the Midlands clear and east during the afternoon 12 to 14C Yorkshire to Kent.

Area Today Tonight

North East England

The day was cloudy and humid, with persistent, sometimes heavy, rain lasting all day in the northern regions. Further to the southeast there will be more showers but there is still a risk of heavier spells. Gentle but clear. Maximum temperature 13°C. There continues to be a risk of showers overnight, at times heavy, although some clearer and drier spells are possible in the south-east. Persistent rain continued to develop in the early hours. The wind calmed down. Minimum temperature 3°C.

North West England

Thursday started off quite wet, but the rain held off throughout the morning. Maximum temperature 13°C. Another cloudy night with a slightly lighter wind. There will be further showers, mainly in the North. A cool night. Minimum temperature 9°C.

Yorkshire & Humber Weather

Starts cloudy and wet in the far north, with rain, sometimes heavy, then soon clears in the north. There will be showers in all areas, locally heavy but interspersed with some brighter spells. Cool. Maximum temperature 14°C. Local showers, easing in the evening and appearing in clear spells. Then there are clouds, persistent rain, sometimes heavy, developing at dawn. Minimum temperature 8°C.

East Midlands Weather

A mostly dry and bright start, perhaps with some rain across the Peak District. Showers will soon develop in northern areas, spreading widely throughout the afternoon. Showers are locally heavy but interspersed with some brighter spells. Cool. Maximum temperature 15°C. Locally heavy showers, mainly easing in the evening and appearing in clear waves. West Midlands Weather

London & South East England Weather

Dry and cloudy overnight, with occasional clear skies, these areas will mainly face north and east. A fresh and gentle night. Minimum temperature 8°C.
